ClotPro® analyzer

ClotPro is a 6 channel viscoelastometry analyzer, designed for the rapid analysis of whole blood coagulation.

It offers a unique combination of ease of use, flexibility, and throughput (6 channels for parallel testing).

The system provides excellent correlation to conventional viscoelastometry analyzers.

Active tips

The active-tip technology is designed to eliminate reagent handling on the ClotPro analyzer.

The reagents are present in a little sponge in the pipetting tip in dry form. During pipetting of the blood sample the reagents are transferred into the blood – simply and safely.

Each active tip comes individually sealed with significant room temperature stability, preventing any reagent wastage.

ClotPro offers 9 tests, the established screening assays (EX-test, FIB-test, AP-test, IN-test, HI-test) and new assays for drug monitoring (RVV-test, ECA-test, TPA-test, NA-test)

Cutting edge coagulation assays

EX-test, REF 103001, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for the assessment of the extrinsic coagulation pathway and its interaction with blood platelets in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. In EX-test CaCl2 recalcifies the sample and recombinant tissue factor activates coagulation. Hexadimethrine bromide is added to the reagent to antagonize any heparin that may be present in the sample.

FIB-test, REF 103002, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for examination of the fibrinogen level and fibrin polymerization in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. In FIB-test CaCl2 recalcifies the sample and recombinant tissue factor activates the extrinsic coagulation pathway. Platelets are inhibited by dual inhibition with cytochalasin D and a synthetic GP2b3a antagonist. Hexadimethrine bromide is added to the reagent to antagonize any heparin that may be present in the sample.

IN-test, REF 103004, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for the assessment of the intrinsic coagulation pathway and its interaction with blood platelets in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. CaCl2 recalcifies the sample and ellagic acid activates coagulation.

HI-test, REF 103005, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for heparin insensitive assessment of the intrinsic coagulation pathway and its interaction with blood platelets in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. HI-test neutralizes heparin in-vitro with heparinase. CaCl2 recalcifies the sample and ellagic acid activates coagulation.

AP-test, REF 103003, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for the fibrinolysis-independent assessment of the extrinsic coagulation pathway and its interaction with blood platelets in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. In AP-test fibrinolysis is inhibited in-vitro using aprotinin, a potent direct antagonist of plasmin, the effector protease of fibrinolysis. CaCl2 recalcifies the sample and recombinant tissue factor activates coagulation.
Hexadimethrine bromide is added to the reagent to antagonize heparin that may be present in the sample.

RVV-test, REF 103012, 10x1 active tips, RUO
Ready to use system reagent for the detection of factor Xa (FXa) antagonists in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. CaCl2 recalcifies the sample and reagent derived from Russells viper venom (RVV) activates FX in the sample to FXa. This FXa triggers coagulation and clot formation.

ECA-test, REF 103013, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for the detection of thrombin antagonists in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. Ecarin, a thrombin activator derived from the venom of the saw-scaled viper (Echis carinatus) activates prothrombin from the blood sample. Hexadimethrine bromide is added to the reagent to antagonize heparin that may be present in the sample.

TPA-test, REF 103011, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for the detection of antifibrinolytic agents in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. Fibrinolysis is triggered in vitro using recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (r-tPA), a potent activator of plasmin.

NA-test, REF 103006, 10x1 active tips
Ready to use system reagent for the detection of non-activated coagulation in citrated blood on the ClotPro system. CaCl2 recalcifies the sample.

Cups and Pins

To begin ClotPro analysis the sample is placed into a cylindrical cup with a cylindrical pin. During coagulation the blood adheres onto the surfaces of the cup and pin and the mechanical strength of the blood clot is continuously determined.

ClotPro uses the dimensions that have been used in thrombelastography for decades for excellent correlation to existing viscoelastometry systems.

ClotPro cups and pins come in packages of 20. Each box contains six packages.


ClotPro controls

Two levels of plasma based lyophilized controls are available for ClotPro analysis.

The controls come in packages of 5 control vials, 1.2 ml (i.e. 3 tests per vial):

  • QC 1: Level 1 control plasma approximating the normal range in whole blood
  • QC 2: Level 2 control plasma representing abnormal results in whole blood

Pre-filled syringes of diluent solution for reconstitution are available optionally. Alternatively 1.2 ml high purity water can be used.


Software solutions

ClotPro software was designed for intuitive and highly efficient performance and documentation of viscoelastometry.

Software features include:

  • Concurrent real time display of 6 measurements
  • User management - restricting access to configuration options
  • Automatic documentation of user interactions in the audit trail
  • Automatic storage of test results as graphics and data files
  • Screen sharing for live-view of active tests in remote locations
  • Forwarding of test results by e-mail
  • LIS/HIS connectivity
